This is the moment of GRATITUDE we have been waiting to share with you!

The Why is obvious. The Interpreting profession faces unprecedented challenges - division, uncertainty, lack of BIPOC representations, and even a shortage of Interpreters is becoming more evident. Interpreters are tired and ready to make changes. We had witnessed an increasingly large number of Interpreters who came to DAI wanting more than ever to step up across differences to uplift and reconnect with BIPOC Interpreters and Deaf consumers. More and more Interpreters see the opportunity in dismantling PPO as a starting point in the right direction. This is where Diversity Academy for Interpreters (DAI) came into the spotlight during 2023 and could not have been possible without all of you, our DAI members, and sponsors supporting us along the way.

Thank YOU for joining with us and with all of our Facilitators, Presenters, and Co-collaborators!

Thank You Sponsors!

A very special thank you to Purple and Lisa Newman for sponsoring us and handling our CEU processing for the last 5 years!

Thank you to Sorenson for sponsoring our RID Social Media Advertisements!

Thank you to Sociocracy For All Academy (SoFA) for leading the way for certification of trainings & Interpreters who provided access for paving the way: Stephanie Jo Kent, Jeanne Reis, Niesha Washington-Shepard, Cirene Pruneda, and Lindy Zornoza.

Other major highlights we created and achieved during 2023:

BEACON Café Live Chats: A monthly live interview with various BIPOC panelist addressing and discussing important issues impacting the BIPOC Interpreter communities across different social media platforms (YouTube, Facebook, and live Stream Yard).

Antiracist Skills Training for Organizations, Boards, & Interpreter Agencies: A training workshop specifically designed for Interpreters discussing real-world interpreting scenarios in which an antiracist can learn to take action in smaller steps. Each group shares their solutions in a group report-out led by trained BIPOC facilitators. Participants learn several antiracist skills by practicing them during live zoom discussion groups: listening, amplifying voices, apologizing and correcting themselves, and more.

The BEACON Affinity Group for emerging BIPOC Interpreters & ITP Students of Color: A space for inspiring potential BIPOC Interpreters seeking to leverage their own identities as well as resources, tools, networks to advance anti-racist change, and to promote opportunities for personal growth.

Diversity Academy for Interpreters became an Approved RID Sponsor to provide and sponsor CEUs for continuing educational activities.

Again, we THANK YOU for helping us create more connections - instead of more division. Helping us instill more inspiration - instead of feeling tired or drained about unpacking one’s privilege. Helping us provide clarity for dismantling racism and developing more compassion for uplifting marginalized others.

If this is a vision that inspires you, then come join us!

For 2024, we ask you to support us in building up our work to make this vision a continued reality. A world where our interpreter profession brings interpreters together, advances their antiracist work and leads to better understanding for how we all can reconnect.

Now is the time for our growing movement to become a wave of transformation. Any donations will amplify our efforts significantly, allowing us to create better opportunities for everyone, make our website run more smoothly across all languages and platforms, offer better implementation support and provide continue support of our growing need of BIPOC facilitators, trainers, and consultants.

In solidarity and we look forward to seeing YOU in 2024!
